PROJECTS

The projects that AHSECA aimed to complete were identified during the onsite evaluation process which took place in May 2008. During that visit, we acknowledged the urgent needs and we decided on how to respond to the requests.

During the evaluation process, AHSECA narrowed the most urgent needs to school books, reading books, office supplies, clothes and toys. This request is currently greatly satisfied.

Indeed, in January 2009, a 20’ container was sent from France to Conakry through Antwerp in Belgium on the boat “Manx Lion”; it arrived at Conakry on February 2nd. Onboard, one year collection of articles for the 1300 schoolchilds of Farmoriah, and the 200 schoolchilds of Barenfory in Guinea-Conakry.

The following articles were sent and distributed to the schoolchilds, to the teachers and to the community health centre:
  • 350 slates
  • 120 books for nursery
  • 2300 books for primary school
  • 4700 books for secondary school
  • 4000 library books and encyclopaedias
  • 6500 office supplies including a “RONEO” printing machine
  • 1700 boxes of medication
  • 500 toys
  • 200 pairs of shoes
  • 3000 clothes
This container being sent, our next focus is the completion of the other projects in the following domains:

A – HEALTH
  • Construction of latrines and water wells
  • Construction of a community health centre at Barenfory
  • Supply of medication
  • Welcome of health professionals from Europe
B – EDUCATION
  • Construction of two libraries
  • Purchasing locally of books in line with local school programs
  • Purchasing locally of office supplies
  • Construction of safety fences around the schools
C – ARTS and CULTURE
  • Welcome on site of free willing professionals from Europe : music, drawing, painting, sculpture,…
  • Initiation course for schoolchilds
  • Implementation of educational projects such as: plantation of trees including fruit trees, plantation of vegetables, conception of global work,…
AHSECA continues and amplifies its actions. As a reminder, all AHSECA members are volunteers and travel at their own cost. All gifts are 100% given back to the kids in schools!
