INTRODUCTION


The African continent includes three countries with the word “Guinea”:

  • The French speaking Guinea called “République de Guinée or Republic of Guinea, or Guinea-Conakry” having Conakry as Capital,
  • The Portuguese speaking Guinea called “Guinée-Bissau or Guinea-Bissau” having Bissau as Capital,
  • The Spanish speaking Guinea called “Guinée Equatoriale or Equatorial Guinea”.

The country is situated west cost of Africa with 300 kms along Atlantic Ocean. The borders are the followings: Atlantic Ocean (west), Guinea-Bissau, Senegal and Mali (North), Ivory Coast and Liberia (East), Liberia and Sierra-Leone (South).


The Four Regions are:
  • Basse-Guinée or Guinée Maritime, South and South-West of the country, Region along the Atlantic Ocean,
  • Moyenne-Guinée or Fouta Djalon, Region at the Centre of the country,
  • Haute-Guinée, Region of North and North-East part of the country
  • Guinée Forestière, Region of South-East of the country.
Each Region has its proper Climate, its own relief, its own fauna, its own flora and its own traditions and culture.
